Moroccan authorities are completing the details for the construction of a huge new highway in the north of the kingdom. Tangier and Tetouan's main centers will be connected by this 60-kilometer project. The infrastructure is necessary to enable further regional development and reduce the increasing network congestion. The project is currently in the planning stage, but work is expected to start in 2027.

This highway's primary goal is to offer an alternative for the overcrowded N2 national road. Currently, this national road is the primary route connecting the two cities, however it can take more than an hour and a half to get there during peak times due to heavy traffic. The new infrastructure is intended to greatly increase safety and speed up traffic flow.
